Sports Taping & Bracing
Sports taping and bracing can provide additional support during rehabilitation, training, and competition while allowing you to remain as active as possible. Depending on your injury, stage of recovery, and sporting demands, we provide rigid sports taping, kinesiology taping, self-adhesive tape, underwrap and advice on appropriate braces or supports.
Rigid sports tape is commonly used to limit excessive joint movement and provide mechanical stability following ligament injuries, such as ankle sprains, wrist injuries, finger injuries, or shoulder instability. It is frequently applied before training or competition to help protect healing tissues and or prevent injury.
Kinesiology tape is a flexible, elastic tape designed to move naturally with your body. It may be used to provide proprioceptive feedback, support muscles and joints, assist with swelling management, and correct movement patterns without restricting mobility. It is commonly used for muscle strains, tendon injuries, overuse conditions, and post-exercise recovery.
Self-adhesive cohesive tape sticks to itself rather than the skin, making it ideal for securing dressings, providing light compression to manage swelling (oedema), supporting fingers and wrists, or reinforcing other taping techniques. It is comfortable and easy to apply or remove.
Where appropriate, we may also recommend functional braces or supports, which can provide longer-term protection during rehabilitation or when returning to sport. We ensure braces are properly fitted and matched to your injury, activity level, and sporting requirements.
We also educate you on when taping or bracing is beneficial, how to apply and use different taping methods correctly, and when support can be gradually reduced as your strength, stability, confidence, and function improve. Our goal is to use taping and bracing as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program—not as a long-term substitute for restoring strength, movement, and performance.
